The Korean film Man Living with the King (directed by Jang Hang-jun) has surpassed 12 million moviegoers just 36 days after its release.

Distributor Showbox announced on March 11 through social media that the film had crossed the 12-million mark. The company expressed gratitude to audiences, stating that the film currently holds the highest audience total for a Korean movie released in the past two years.

With the new milestone, the film has overtaken Exhuma (11.91 million viewers) and climbed to No.20 on the all-time Korean box office list. Industry watchers expect it to soon surpass titles such as A Taxi Driver (12.81 million), Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days (12.27 million), The King and the Clown (12.30 million), and Masquerade (12.32 million).

To celebrate the achievement, the cast and director will hold a special stage greeting event on March 17 at the Megabox COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. Director Jang Hang-jun will attend alongside actors Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, Kim Min, Lee Jun-hyuk, Kim Su-jin, and Park Ji-yoon.

The film previously crossed the 10-million mark on March 6, becoming the first Korean "ten-million-seller" movie in two years following Exhuma and The Roundup: Punishment. Strong holiday demand during the Lunar New Year season and the Samiljeol holiday helped drive its continued box office momentum.

Man Living with the King is set in the Joseon era and centers on Danjong, the sixth king of Joseon. The story follows the young deposed monarch during exile and the village chief and local residents who care for and protect him.
