ILLIT proved its popularity in Japan once again. The group received an award at the Japan Gold Disc Awards for the second consecutive year.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan announced the winners of the 40th Japan Gold Disc Awards on March 11. ILLIT was selected in the Best 3 New Artists (Asia) category.
The award recognizes emerging artists from Asia excluding Japan. Winners are determined based on album sales performance and overall achievements over the past year, with the top three artists receiving the honor.
This marks ILLIT's second straight year at the ceremony. Last year, the group won three trophies with its debut hit "Magnetic," including Song of the Year by Download (Asia).
ILLIT shared its gratitude, saying, "We are truly happy to receive an award as artists. We sincerely thank our fandom GLLIT for always supporting us."
Growing Momentum in Japan
ILLIT maintained strong momentum in Japan throughout last year. In February, the song "Almond Chocolate" sparked a chart resurgence, while the group made its official Japanese debut in September with its first single "Tokiyo Tomare."
The group also appeared on several major Japanese year-end programs, including NHK's Kōhaku Uta Gassen, NTV's annual music awards show, Fuji TV's FNS Music Festival, and TBS's CDTV Live! Live!
First Tour Across Seven Cities
Meanwhile, ILLIT is preparing for its first concert tour, "ILLIT Live – Press Start." The tour will bring the group to fans across seven cities worldwide.
