Ryu Seung-ryong is continuing his steady philanthropic work, spreading warmth across society through a series of public service activities.
According to his agency Prain TPC on March 13, the actor recently joined a public campaign organized by the Korea Disability Foundation to support families with disabilities facing unexpected crises.
The campaign provides assistance to vulnerable households encountering sudden hardships. Ryu expressed his support for the initiative, saying he hopes the new year becomes an opportunity for people to reflect on the lives of those around them.
From Environmental Narration to Cultural Projects
Ryu has also contributed to environmental awareness. He participated as a narrator for the documentary program SBS Special: Strange Zoo, which explores the lives of animals and the broader world beyond zoo enclosures.
He shared that he was deeply moved while reading the script and expressed hope to one day visit Cheongju Zoo.
The actor also served as a moderator for the independent documentary film Pasi, a project that revisits the history of islands and the sea.
Sharing the Stories of National Heroes
Ryu lent his voice to the "Housing Support Campaign for National Merit Recipients," organized by Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women's University in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Korea.
With his signature resonant voice, Ryu introduced the stories of national merit recipients and encouraged public interest and participation to expand the campaign's impact.
Supporting Fellow Artists Through Talent Donation
He has also supported colleagues in the cultural sector. Ryu recently joined the audiobook project "100 Actors Read Korean Essays" through talent donation.
For the project, he read My Wish, written by independence activist Kim Gu, reflecting on the cultural aspirations he envisioned for the nation.
The project aims to support theater artists, with audiobook revenue helping cover emergency medical and living expenses for performers.
Beyond these activities, Ryu has consistently participated in social initiatives, including preservation efforts for the Jeju Olle Trail, coal briquette donation campaigns, meal support programs for seniors, independence movement remembrance projects, environmental restoration documentaries, and conservation efforts for Sagots Beach.
