Seo Dong-ju has announced that she is expecting her first child.
Seo shared the news on March 13 through social media. Alongside a photo of a pregnancy test showing two lines, she wrote that she had "finally seen the magic-eye result" on the test.
The pregnancy came after undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). She revealed that her initial hCG levels were very low, raising concerns about a possible chemical pregnancy, but the levels miraculously rose above 100 in a later test.
Awaiting One More Test
However, she still has one final blood test before reaching a more stable stage of pregnancy.
"I sincerely hope I can hear even better news," she said, expressing cautious optimism while sharing the emotional journey.
Seo also asked fans for support and prayers. "Please pray for me," she wrote. "Thank you. I'll come back with good news."
Emotional IVF Journey
On the same day, Seo uploaded a video to her YouTube channel documenting parts of her IVF process. After receiving a positive blood test result, she was seen in tears, saying she could hardly believe the outcome.
In her message, she described the difficult process she experienced over the past two years while trying to conceive. She explained that after repeated egg retrieval attempts due to extremely low ovarian reserve, she finally underwent her first embryo transfer—implanting one three-day embryo and two four-day embryos.
Although the pregnancy test showed two lines on the seventh day, subsequent blood tests initially showed poor hormone progression, making her fear a chemical miscarriage. The fourth test, however, showed a sudden rise in hCG levels, giving her renewed hope.
Seo reflected on how pregnancy announcements in media often show instant joy after seeing two lines on a test, but said the reality has been far more uncertain and emotionally exhausting.
"I feel like a slave to hormones and pregnancy tests, praying and trying to endure each day," she shared.
Meanwhile, Seo Dong-ju remarried a non-celebrity man four years younger than her in June last year.
