The Japanese remake of the hit drama Stove League is set to air on Korean terrestrial TV.
Studio S announced on March 17 that the Japanese remake based on Stove League will premiere on SBS on March 29.
The original series follows a struggling professional baseball team, the Dreams, as a new general manager takes charge. It recorded a peak viewership rating of 20.8% during its run.
The remake came to life after strong interest from Japan in the Stove League IP. A local production company collaborated with Studio S to co-produce the series.
Kazuya Kamenashi of KAT-TUN takes on the lead role of Baek Seung-su, originally portrayed by Namkoong Min. NERU Nagahama of Keyakizaka46 plays team manager Lee Se-young, a role originally played by Park Eun-bin. Mansai Nomura stars as club president Kwon Kyung-min, originally played by Oh Jung-se.
The remake also introduces unique elements. DRIPPIN's Cha Jun-ho appears as Lim Min-jong, a Korean player, while Ha Do-kwon makes a special appearance.
Meanwhile, the Japanese version of Stove League will be available on Lemino and WOWOW starting March 28. In Korea, it will air weekly on SBS.
