Kim Nam-gil and Lee You-mi are set to join forces in a high-concept crime drama that punishes evil in an unconventional way.
SBS revealed the main cast lineup for its upcoming series Nightmare, confirming the two actors' participation. The drama centers on a unique form of justice—trapping criminals who cannot be punished by law inside nightmares instead of prison, blurring the boundary between dreams and reality.
A Detective and a Nightmare Architect
Kim Nam-gil takes on the role of Kim Tae-yi, a detective who returns to the Southern Police Station after completing an undercover mission. Though everything around him has changed, his relentless pursuit of criminals remains the same.
Lee You-mi plays Jang Gyu-eun, a victim support officer and Kim Tae-yi's colleague. While timid in real life, she transforms completely within dreams, showcasing a striking duality.
A New Kind of Justice
The drama's key dynamic lies in the duo's partnership. A fearless detective and a mysterious "nightmare designer" collaborate to deliver justice to criminals who evade legal punishment.
The production team stated that the series aims to send a strong message to those who escape consequences, using the concept of nightmare-based punishment. They added that viewers can expect immersive storytelling and strong chemistry between Kim Nam-gil and Lee You-mi.
Nightmare is scheduled to premiere next year.
