Actress Ko Asung is set to take on her first live comedy stage since debut, marking a bold new turn in her career.
Streaming platform Coupang Play confirmed on March 20 that Ko Asung will appear as the host of Episode 2 of SNL Korea Season 8.
Ko debuted in 2004 through a children's drama and rose to prominence with the blockbuster film The Host, earning the title of a "10-million actor." She has since built a diverse filmography with projects such as Snowpiercer and Pavane.
Now, 22 years into her acting career, she will step onto a live comedy stage for the first time—showcasing a transformation not previously seen in her work. The performance is expected to highlight her quirky charm and comedic range.
Ko shared her thoughts ahead of the show, saying she never imagined herself on the SNL Korea stage. While acknowledging the pressure of live comedy, she expressed excitement and determination to deliver a performance worthy of the show's reputation.
She added that she plans to convey her "bright energy" through every detail of her acting, asking viewers for their warm support.
In addition to Ko's transformation, Season 8 will introduce new crew members, promising fresh chemistry alongside the established cast.
Ko Asung's episode of SNL Korea Season 8 is scheduled to premiere on April 4 at 8 PM (KST).
