The film The Man Who Lives with the King (directed by Jang Hang-jun) has surpassed 14 million viewers.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system, the film exceeded 14 million cumulative admissions as of 11 AM on March 20.
It achieved the milestone in 45 days since release. On March 19, it had already surpassed 13,953,452 viewers. On the same day, an additional 107,193 tickets were reserved nationwide.
The film has entered the all-time box office Top 5. It surpassed Frozen 2 (13.74 million) and Avengers: Endgame (13.93 million), ranking fifth overall.
Further upward movement remains possible. It trails Ode to My Father (14.25 million) by around 250,000 viewers and Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (14.41 million) by approximately 410,000.
The Man Who Lives with the King is based on Joseon's sixth king, Danjong. It tells the story of the exiled former king, a village head who cares for him, and the people of Gwangcheongol.
Yoo Hae-jin plays the village head of Gwangcheongol, while Park Ji-hoon portrays King Danjong (Lee Hong-wi). The film delivers emotional impact through a friendship that transcends social status.
Meanwhile, the film was released in North America last month.
