ILLIT Drops Japan Single "Bubee" on April 6, Selected as Anime Opening Theme
by. ymchoi

ILLIT is set to release a new Japanese track, expanding its presence in the local market.

BELIFT LAB announced on March 21 that ILLIT will collaborate with leading short-form creators for its third Japanese digital single "Bubee," scheduled for release on April 6.

J-Pop Meets Shibuya Subculture

"Bubee" is a dance-pop track rooted in J-pop, infused with Shibuya subculture aesthetics. The title is derived from the word "Buddy," symbolizing friendship and connection.

The single features collaboration with creators active in the short-form space. Japanese singer-songwriter Noa participated in writing the lyrics. She is widely known as the original creator behind "Zenhoukou Bishoujo."

This marks their second collaboration following "Topping," a track from ILLIT's first Japanese single released last year.

Choreography and Viral Potential

Choreography is led by Sako Makita, known for driving viral dance challenges for local idol groups such as "Milk" and "Cutie Street."

The agency stated that Makita will introduce a challenge tailored to the theme of "Bubee," designed to be enjoyed by friends, couples, and families alike.

"Bubee" has also been selected as the opening theme for the upcoming Japanese TV anime "Magical Sisters Lulutoriri," highlighting ILLIT's refreshing vocal color.

Meanwhile, ILLIT will return on April 30 with its fourth mini album "MAMIHLAPINATAPAI."
