Jun Ji Hyun is making her long-awaited return to the big screen after 11 years.
She will star in the upcoming film Colony, directed by Yeon Sang Ho, a zombie-themed project where she plays Kwon Se Jung, a biotechnologist and leader of a group of survivors.
Jun Ji Hyun has built a diverse filmography, from a witty thief in The Thieves to a spy's wife in The Berlin File and a female independence fighter in Assassination.
A New Kind of Heroine
In Colony, she takes on a character who refuses to tolerate injustice. As a scientist, she analyzes the evolution patterns of the infected while fighting to survive and escape.
Explaining her reason for choosing the project, Jun Ji Hyun said, "I'm a fan of director Yeon Sang Ho. Above all, the clean and compelling script really drew me in."
This marks her first collaboration with the director. Yeon Sang Ho praised her performance, saying, "Her ability to immerse herself instantly was remarkable. She truly is a veteran actress."
Colony is scheduled to hit theaters this May.
