i-dle member Shuhua is set to make her big-screen debut, taking on a leading role.
Cube Entertainment announced on March 26 that Shuhua has been cast as the lead in the Chinese-language film Happy and Joyful Days, directed by Fiona Roan. This marks her first appearance in a film.
First Lead Role on the Big Screen
Happy and Joyful Days tells the story of two sisters with completely different personalities, whose seemingly peaceful lives begin to unravel after the sudden appearance of a stray cat.
Shuhua will play Lin Jiaqi, a bright and innocent younger sister. After picking up a stray cat, her perspective on life gradually begins to change.
"A New Side as an Actress"
Shuhua shared her thoughts on her acting debut, saying, "I want to show a different side of myself as an actress and bring a new kind of surprise to fans."
She added, "Lin Jiaqi's cheerful and emotional personality is similar to mine. However, her inner struggles and tendency to avoid the future are aspects I want to challenge and express in my own way."
Acclaimed Director Attached
Director Fiona Roan has been recognized at the Golden Horse Awards, winning Best New Director, the FIPRESCI Prize, and the Audience Award. Her film American Girl received critical acclaim.
Meanwhile, i-dle is currently on its fourth world tour Syncopation, with upcoming stops in Australia in May, followed by Singapore, Yokohama, Hong Kong in June, and major cities in North America in August.
The group will also perform at the Lollapalooza in Chicago's Grant Park on July 31 (local time).
