BTS has once again proven its global dominance, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with their fifth full-length album Arirang.
According to Billboard's chart preview released on March 30 (KST), Arirang enters the chart dated April 4 at No. 1, marking BTS's seventh career No. 1 on the main albums chart.
Record-Breaking Weekly Sales
Arirang recorded a total of 641,000 album units in its first week— the highest weekly total since Billboard began tracking album consumption under its current methodology in December 2014.
Of that, pure album sales reached 532,000 copies, making it the group's biggest weekly sales figure in nearly a decade. Physical albums played a decisive role, with 516,000 copies sold, including 208,000 vinyl units—both setting new personal bests.
Streaming activity also surged. The album generated over 95,000 SEA (Streaming Equivalent Albums), the highest weekly streaming figure of BTS's career, alongside 14,000 TEA (Track Equivalent Albums).
Seventh No. 1 Album in the U.S.
This achievement marks BTS's seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, following Love Yourself: Tear, Love Yourself: Answer, Map of the Soul: Persona, Map of the Soul: 7, BE, and Proof. The group continues to demonstrate unmatched consistency in both physical and digital consumption.
Global Chart Domination Continues
Beyond the U.S., Arirang has swept major global charts. It topped Japan's Oricon chart, the UK Official Albums Chart, France's SNEP Top Albums, and Australia's ARIA Charts Top 50 Albums.
In Germany, BTS achieved a historic milestone by simultaneously reaching No. 1 on both the album and singles charts with Arirang and its title track "SWIM"—a first in the chart's history.
'SWIM' Extends Global Momentum
The title track "SWIM" continues its strong run on global streaming platforms. It held No. 1 on Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global chart for nine consecutive days and peaked at No. 2 on the UK Official Singles Chart, setting a new career high for BTS.
Arirang encapsulates BTS's identity and explores universal emotions, resonating deeply with listeners worldwide while reinforcing their status as one of the most influential acts in global music.
