The musical Death Note has set a new milestone in Korea's musical scene, surpassing 500,000 cumulative viewers.

Production company OD Company announced on March 30 that the show reached the half-million mark, approximately four years after introducing its new production.

Based on the original Japanese manga, Death Note follows the intense psychological battle between genius student Light and detective L over a mysterious notebook of death.

The production has demonstrated strong ticket power throughout its run. The 2022 premiere and 2023 encore attracted around 370,000 viewers, with an additional 150,000 audience members joining this season (as of March 11), pushing the total beyond 500,000.

The musical also set a record for the fastest time to reach this milestone in Korean musical history—an achievement typically reached over a decade by large-scale productions.

Producer Shin Chun-soo described the result as "miraculous," adding that the team will deliver an even higher-quality finale to repay audience support.

To celebrate the milestone, Death Note will hold a special extended run. Cast members who had previously completed their performances will return for the extension.

The role of Light will be performed by Kyuhyun, Ko Eun-sung, Kim Min-seok, and Lim Kyu-hyung. L will be portrayed by Kim Junsu, Kim Sung-cheol, Sandeul, and Tang Jun-sang. Amane Misa will be played by Kei and Jang Min-je.

The special extension will run from May 12 to May 25 at D-Cube Link Art Center.
