A Korean historical drama is making its mark on the global stage. JTBC's God's Bead has been officially invited to the 9th Cannes International Series Festival (CANNESERIES).
Production company SLL confirmed on April 1 that the series will be screened in the non-competitive "Rendez-Vous" section at the festival, which opens on April 23.
Set in the year 1258, God's Bead follows a convoy risking their lives on the battlefield to transport a sacred relic, the Avalokitesvara bead, alongside a princess determined to save them. The large-scale historical project drew attention early in development for its ambitious scope.
Ahn Bo-hyun stars as Baek-gyeol, the convoy leader, while Lee Sung-min plays Choi Gu, commander of the Sambyeolcho unit. Claudia Kim takes on the role of Princess Gyeonghwa.
Ahn Bo-hyun and Claudia Kim will attend the festival on behalf of the series. They are scheduled to appear on the pink carpet and participate in GV (guest visit) sessions, signaling the drama's official entry into the global market.
Global Spotlight Through Canneseries
The "Rendez-Vous" section is a non-competitive program at Canneseries, where creators and cast members engage with audiences through screenings and promotional events such as the pink carpet.
Alongside God's Bead, other Korean works have also secured official invitations. These include Your Everything, starring SF9's Chani, and Genfluencer, led by actress Bae Yoon-kyung.
The 9th Cannes International Series Festival will take place from April 23 to 28 in Cannes, France.
