TAEYANG is returning as a solo artist after three years, unveiling a deeply personal new project titled QUINTESSENCE.
On April 1, TAEYANG shared an image on social media featuring the word "QUINTESSENCE," hinting at his upcoming release. The title, which means "essence" or "core," was personally chosen by the artist.
A Personal and Philosophical Album
TAEYANG described QUINTESSENCE as more than just an album—it represents a journey of self-discovery.
He explained that while he may not have fully defined the word's meaning, the process of searching for it became the foundation of the project itself.
According to TAEYANG, the concept reflects something that already exists within everyone. He expressed hope that listeners will find their own answers through the album, describing it as "the most important, yet invisible thing."
First Solo Release in Three Years
This marks TAEYANG's first solo comeback since his second EP Down to Earth, released on April 2, 2023. The project highlighted his signature performance style and commanding stage presence.
In July last year, he also held a fan meeting titled "01 (Forever)" and toured six Japanese cities, including Fukushima, Hiroshima, Osaka, Shizuoka, Tokyo, and Miyagi, connecting closely with fans.
Alongside his solo activities, TAEYANG continues group promotions with BIGBANG, who are set to headline Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 12.
With QUINTESSENCE, TAEYANG signals not just a return, but a refined artistic direction rooted in identity and introspection.
