Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun are set to headline a new romantic comedy, kicking off with strong chemistry at their first script reading.
SBS unveiled the script reading scene for its upcoming Friday–Saturday drama Brave New World on April 2, featuring a cast lineup that includes Jang Seung-jo and Lee Se-hee.
From "Enemies" to Lovers
Brave New World is a fantasy rom-com centered on a struggling actress possessed by the spirit of a notorious Joseon-era villainess, and a ruthless chaebol heir known as a "capitalist monster."
Their relationship begins with conflict but gradually evolves into romance, promising a mix of tension, humor, and emotional payoff.
Standout Characters and Chemistry
Lim Ji-yeon takes on the role of Shin Seo-ri, an unknown actress suddenly inhabited by the spirit of Kang Dan-sim, a legendary villainess from the Joseon era. She portrays the character's fierce survival instincts after being thrust into the modern world.
Heo Nam-jun plays Cha Se-gye, the heir to Cha Il Group, who shows an unexpected vulnerability when facing Shin Seo-ri. Their dynamic "love-hate" chemistry stood out during the reading session.
Jang Seung-jo appears as Choi Moon-do, a seemingly gentle relative hiding deep ambition, while Lee Se-hee plays Seo-ri's rival, Yoon Ji-hyo.
The ensemble cast also includes Kim Min-seok, Chae Seo-an, Yoon Joo-sang, Yoon Byung-hee, Jung Young-joo, Baek Eun-hye, and Baek Ji-won, with veteran actress Kim Hae-sook making a special appearance.
High Expectations Ahead of Premiere
Director Han Tae-seop and writer Kang Hyun-joo led the session, with the cast delivering performances that felt as immersive as a live shoot.
The production team praised the synergy, noting that it was hard to believe it was their first meeting, and expressed confidence that the drama will deliver heart-racing moments through its performances.
Brave New World is scheduled to premiere this May.
