The film The Man Living with the King is unveiling a special OST to mark its continued box office success.
The production team announced that the track "Friend" will be released at noon on April 3, ahead of the film surpassing 16 million viewers.
A Ballad That Deepens the Film's Emotion
"Friend" is a lyrical ballad performed by Jeon Mido, who plays Mae-hwa in the film. Drawing on her musical background, she delivers the character's emotions with depth and nuance.
The song was composed by Dalparan, who translated Mae-hwa's feelings toward Hongwi (played by Park Jihoon) into a delicate melody.
Lyrics Reflect Unspoken Love
Lyrics were written by Yoon Jong Shin, who explained that the song expresses the pain of loving someone who cannot become more than a friend, as well as the helplessness of watching them endure hardship.
He added that he wanted to contribute to the project of director Jang Hang Joon, praising Jeon Mido's vocal performance and emotional delivery.
Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, the film tells the story of a village leader who voluntarily chooses exile and a dethroned king, weaving a narrative of sacrifice, loyalty, and quiet longing.
