Park Hyung-sik and Park Gyu-young are set to team up in a new romance series that bridges military history and office dynamics.

Netflix announced on April 6 that both actors have been cast in the upcoming series By the Book (literal title), revealing the main lineup.

From Military Rivals to Workplace Roles

The series is an office romance centered on a reversal of hierarchy. Former military superior and subordinate reunite years later—this time as a company CEO and a rookie employee at a camping apparel firm.

Park Hyung-sik will play Na Jung-seok, the company's CEO. Though once timid and unable to adapt to military life, he grows into a capable leader who builds his own business.

Park Gyu-young takes on the role of Woo A-mi, a former special forces soldier turned new hire. Known for her fearless personality in the military, she joins Jung-seok's company after discharge.

Proven Creative Team

The series will be directed by Nam Sung-woo, known for My Lovely Liar and My Roommate Is a Gumiho, both praised for their nuanced portrayal of relationships.

Writer Kim Ha-na, who previously worked on Heartbeat and My Secret Romance, is in charge of the script, bringing her signature blend of emotional depth and romantic tension.

By the Book is currently in production, with its release schedule yet to be finalized. The series is set to be distributed via Netflix.
