Ten has officially parted ways with SM Entertainment, while leaving the door open for continued group activities with WayV and NCT.
SM Entertainment announced on April 6 that, following in-depth discussions regarding Ten's future direction, both sides agreed to conclude his exclusive contract on April 8.
Group Activities Still Under Discussion
Unlike Mark Lee, who is set to fully conclude his NCT activities, Ten's participation in WayV and NCT promotions remains a possibility. The agency stated it will coordinate with Ten to enable his involvement in future group activities.
SM added, "We sincerely thank Ten for his outstanding contributions as both a group member and a solo artist since debut. We will continue to support his new beginning."
"A New Challenge at 30"
Ten also shared his thoughts via Instagram, confirming his intention to continue engaging with fans as part of NCT and WayV.
"I will keep spending time with you as Ten of NCT and WayV," he wrote. "At the same time, I want to begin a new journey as a solo artist."
He explained that approaching his 30s led him to reflect on his identity and future. "I asked myself what kind of person I want to become, and what kind of music and image I want to show," he said.
Ten added, "I felt the desire to challenge myself in a new environment. I will take responsibility for my decision and move forward without regrets."
A Decade of Versatile Activity
Ten debuted in 2016 with NCT U's digital single "The 7th Sense." He has since been active across multiple units, including WayV, NCT U, and SuperM, while also building a solo career.
Meanwhile, Mark previously announced his contract termination with SM on April 3, with his departure set for April 8.
