The film The Man Who Lives With the King has climbed to No.2 on Korea's all-time box office chart.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system, the movie recorded a cumulative 16,283,970 admissions on April 11. It reached the milestone in 68 days since release.
It surpassed the final total of Extreme Job (16.26 million), securing the No.2 spot overall.
Distributor Showbox stated, "Thanks to everyone who knocked on the long-closed doors of Gwangcheongol, it has grown warm again. We sincerely thank the 16.27 million viewers who made their way there."
The film is based on King Danjong, the sixth king of the Joseon Dynasty. It tells the story of the exiled former king, a village head, and the people of Gwangcheongol who share genuine friendship.
Director Jang Hang-jun achieved his first 10-million-viewer film. Park Ji-hoon gained nationwide popularity with his delicate yet firm performance, while Yoo Hae-jin delivered humor and emotion that resonated across all age groups.
