ILLIT is bringing a popular Japanese track to Korean audiences with a fresh reinterpretation.
The group will release the Korean version of Bubee on April 13 at 6 PM (KST). The original song was the opening theme for the Japanese TV anime Magical Sisters Rurutoriri.
Bubee is a dance-pop track that blends J-pop with Shibuya-kei subculture elements. ILLIT's signature bright and refreshing vocals add a new layer to its sweet melody.
The song has already proven its popularity in Japan. Released locally on April 6, it ranked No. 1 on the real-time rising chart of AWA Music and appeared across multiple charts.
The title is derived from the word "Buddy," meaning companion or friend. The lyrics convey a message that "anything is possible when you're with someone you love."
ILLIT commented, "We preserved the bouncy vibe of the original track. If you focus on the cute lyrics, it will feel like becoming a magical girl."
Meanwhile, ILLIT is set to release their 4th mini album MAMIHLAPINATAPAI on April 30.
