BIGBANG Ignites Coachella with 20th Anniversary Stage, Marking a Powerful Return
by. ymchoi

BIGBANG declared their return in spectacular fashion, delivering a historic performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to kick off their 20th anniversary era.

The group took the Outdoor Theatre stage in California on April 13 (KST), performing a 60-minute set packed with 17 songs. From start to finish, BIGBANG proved their enduring legacy as K-pop legends with a commanding live performance.

"BIGBANG IS BACK" — A 20-Year Journey Unfolds

The opening sequence set the tone. A massive screen visualized a shattered moon as the years from 2006 to 2026 counted forward, symbolizing the group's two-decade journey.

As the intro of "Bang Bang Bang" played, the crowd erupted in chants. The members appeared under red lighting, instantly taking control of the atmosphere.

"Coachella, we're here!" shouted G-Dragon, igniting the crowd.

They followed with "Fantastic Baby" and "Sober," showcasing tight choreography and powerful live vocals, with thousands of fans singing along.

Nostalgia Meets Live Band Energy

BIGBANG revisited early-era tracks like "Fool of Tears" (2006), creating an emotional shift in the set. Fans waved light sticks as the members filled the stage with only stand microphones.

Band arrangements elevated performances of "Loser" and "Haru Haru," blending orchestral scale with emotional delivery. "Tonight" was also reimagined with strong rock instrumentation, adding a new texture to the classic track.

Solo Stages Highlight Individual Colors

Taeyang kicked off the solo segment with "Ringa Linga," delivering explosive energy with bold stage presence.

G-Dragon surprised fans by appearing from below the stage during "Power," even taking a fan's phone to snap selfies mid-performance.

Their duet "Good Boy" combined cinematic black-and-white visuals with slow-motion choreography, creating an artistic highlight.

Daesung delivered the biggest twist with a trot stage—performing "Overflow" and "Look at Me, Gwisoon." His dynamic vocals turned the desert into a vibrant festival of Korean sound.

A Festival Finale and a New Beginning

The group reunited for "Home Sweet Home," dressed in black-and-white outfits, before moving into an a cappella version of "Bad Boy," where the audience completed the harmony.

"We Like 2 Party" transformed the venue into a full-scale celebration, with dozens of dancers and a crowd fully engaged in sing-alongs.

Before the final stage, the members reflected on their 20-year journey.

"We will never forget this moment. Thank you," said Daesung.

"This stage means a lot to us as we celebrate our 20th anniversary," added Taeyang.

"We're preparing something huge. Our 20th anniversary will be unforgettable," said G-Dragon.

They closed with "Still Life," walking to the edge of the stage and making eye contact with fans, signaling more to come.

BIGBANG will return for a second Coachella performance on April 20, continuing their anniversary celebration on a global stage.
