Actor Jin Ki-joo has confirmed her next project, taking on the role of a psychiatrist in the upcoming drama Sleeping Doctor.
According to KBS on April 15, Jin Ki-joo will lead the series as Hong Kyung, the main character of the new KBS2 drama Sleeping Doctor, written by Baek Eun-kyung and directed by Lee Hyun-kyung and Lee Jin-ah.
The series is a romantic comedy centered on a rookie clinic director who opens a private psychiatric practice, and a salaried doctor who joins her clinic. Together, they navigate both professional struggles and personal healing.
Jin Ki-joo will play Hong Kyung, the head of "Healer Mental Health Clinic." Despite launching her own practice for a fresh start, her character unexpectedly falls asleep in front of patients. While she treats others, she is unable to overcome her own trauma, creating a layered and emotionally complex role.
The production team expressed confidence in the casting, stating they are excited about the synergy between Jin Ki-joo and the character. They added that the contrast between a doctor who cannot heal herself and her colleague will deliver both emotional depth and comforting warmth to viewers.
Sleeping Doctor has completed pre-production and is set to begin filming soon.
