BIGBANG's Daesung has taken trot music to the global stage, charting on international iTunes rankings.

According to the latest iTunes chart dated April 14, Daesung's "Hando-Chogua" ranked No. 3 on Vietnam's Top Songs chart. The track also entered charts in multiple countries, including Qatar.

It is highly unusual for trot—a genre deeply rooted in Korean musical tradition—to appear on global charts. Notably, the song was listed under its romanized title "HANDO-CHOGUA," drawing attention for maintaining its Korean identity.

The chart also featured major K-pop acts such as PLAVE, Tomorrow X Together, and BTS, highlighting Daesung's unique presence with a different genre.

Coachella Performance Sparks Global Buzz

The achievement was largely driven by his recent stage at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. BIGBANG performed on April 13 in Indio, California, delivering a standout set.

During his solo segment, Daesung introduced trot to Coachella for the first time. He performed "Hando-Chogua" (2026) and "Look at Me, Gwisun" (2008) back-to-back, with Korean subtitles displayed on massive screens.

His signature vocal inflections and energetic performance captivated the audience. Despite the genre being unfamiliar to many, the crowd responded enthusiastically, moving along to the rhythm.

Rare Global Recognition for Trot

International media also responded positively. Outlet LiveMint noted that presenting trot—a distinctly Korean genre—on such a major global stage is extremely rare, praising Daesung for commanding the performance with unmatched energy.

BIGBANG is set to return to the Coachella stage for a second performance on April 20.
