The film Swarm (directed by Yeon Sang-ho) is set to meet domestic audiences following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
Showbox announced on April 15 that the movie will be released in Korea on May 21. The film is a zombie apocalypse thriller depicting a desperate survival battle inside a building after an outbreak.
An international trailer was also unveiled via Variety. It portrays ordinary people turning into infected beings after a mysterious act of terror.
As the infection progresses, the creatures evolve—initially running on all fours before shifting to two legs. They attack in coordinated groups and mutate unpredictably, intensifying the threat against survivors.
The survivors unite under Se-jung Kwon (played by Jun Ji-hyun), fighting for survival. In contrast, Young-cheol Seo (played by Koo Kyo-hwan) chooses isolation, adding intrigue to the storyline.
Swarm has been invited to the Midnight Screening section at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, which opens in France on May 12. The film will have its world premiere there.
