BTS suffered a leak incident ahead of their album release, prompting their agency to take legal action against the individual responsible.
According to Billboard, HYBE has requested a subpoena targeting a netizen who leaked content from ARIRANG online.
The individual, using the handle "BTS ARIRANG LEAK," uploaded unreleased tracks and album artwork on the platform X (formerly Twitter).
HYBE stated that the incident caused both financial damage and copyright infringement. The company has asked the court to identify the anonymous user ahead of filing a domestic lawsuit.
Global Impact Remains Strong Despite Leak
ARIRANG, released on March 20, marks BTS's first full-length album in approximately four years. The album includes 14 tracks, led by the title song "SWIM."
Despite the leak controversy, the album achieved massive global success, surpassing 4,169,464 copies in first-week sales—breaking their previous record of 3.37 million.
The album also topped the Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks, making BTS the first K-pop act to achieve this milestone.
BTS is currently on their ARIRANG world tour and will continue with performances at Tokyo Dome on April 17 and 18.
