Kim Sung-cheol has been cast in the upcoming drama Sleeping Doctor, taking on his first-ever doctor role.
According to KBS on April 16, Kim Sung-cheol will play Nam Ji-oh in the new KBS2 series Sleeping Doctor, written by Baek Eun-kyung and directed by Lee Hyun-kyung and Lee Jin-ah.
The drama follows the story of Hong Kyung (played by Jin Ki-joo), a rookie clinic director struggling to keep her psychiatric practice afloat, and Nam Ji-oh, a highly skilled freelance doctor who joins her.
From Conflict to Romance
Nam Ji-oh is portrayed as a naturally gifted doctor with extensive medical knowledge across fields. He works tirelessly to revive Hong Kyung's failing clinic.
Initially, the two clash over treatment methods and hospital management. However, they gradually build mutual understanding, eventually developing romantic feelings.
This marks Kim Sung-cheol's first time playing a doctor. Known for his versatility across film, television, and OTT platforms, he is expected to bring depth to the character.
The production team stated that Kim Sung-cheol shares strong synchronicity with the role, expressing anticipation for how he will portray Nam Ji-oh—a character who is both multi-talented and emotionally wounded.
