"'Emergency Declaration' Surpasses 1.59 Million Viewers...Martial Law Documentary Debuts at No. 2"

[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-joo] The film "Salmokji" maintained its position at number one at the box office despite new releases.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticket sales system, "Salmokji" drew 43,402 viewers on the 22nd. Its cumulative audience surpassed 1.591 million.

The film did not surrender its top spot despite multiple new releases on the same day, including "Lan 12.3," "Changu," and "The Mummy of Li Cronin."

"Salmokji" continues to draw audiences. The film has held the top position for 15 consecutive days since its release on the 8th. The horror film, utilizing a familiar premise, has captivated moviegoers.

Director Lee Myung-se's "Lan 12.3" claimed second place. The documentary examines the martial law declaration crisis of December 3, 2024. The film attracted 37,037 viewers on its opening day.

"Changu" and "Project Hail Mary" followed in succession, drawing 26,848 and 17,663 viewers respectively. "The Man Who Lives With the King" secured fifth place with 10,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, "Salmokji" is a horror film set against the backdrop of Salmokji Reservoir. The story unfolds as a road view filming crew encounters something in the deep water.
