[Dispatch=Lee Myung-joo] "The Devil Wears Prada 2" (Director David Frankel) has shown signs of box office success. It topped advance ticket sales.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticketing system, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" recorded 115,137 advance reservations as of 8 a.m. on the 27th.
It surpassed "Super Mario Galaxy" (Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic), which opens the same day. The film had 89,444 advance reservations.
"The Devil Wears Prada 2" is a sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada," which opened in 2006. The previous film drew approximately 1.37 million viewers domestically.
Particularly, expectations are high locally. Box Office Pro projects that the film will earn $95 million (approximately 140.3 billion won) in North America during its opening week.
In the case of the previous film, it earned $27.5 million (approximately 40.6 billion won) in the first week alone. Worldwide box office revenue was approximately $326.58 million (approximately 484 billion won).
Meanwhile, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" will open worldwide first on the 29th.
