According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticket system, 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' (Director David Frankel) drew 150,769 moviegoers on its opening day, the 30th.
It recorded the highest opening score among films released this year. It drew nearly 30,000 more viewers than 'The Man Who Lives with the King' (117,783 people), which ranked second in all-time movie attendance.
It also surpassed other films that opened at the same time. Another Hollywood film 'Super Mario Galaxy' (Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic) drew 60,439 viewers nationwide on that day.
'Salmonsters' (Director Lee Sang-min) fell to third place on the box office amid new releases. It was watched by 59,060 people. It had held the number one position for 21 consecutive days since its April 8 opening.
Meanwhile, 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' tells the story of Runway editor-in-chief Miranda and planning editor Andy returning and reuniting with Emily, who has become a luxury brand executive.
