[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju] The film "Super Mario Galaxy" (directed by Aaron Horvath) took the No. 1 spot at the box office during its opening weekend.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticket system, "Super Mario Galaxy" drew 575,514 moviegoers last weekend (May 1-3). The cumulative audience stands at 685,994.
The film is a sequel to "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" (2023). "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" surpassed 1.3 billion dollars (approximately 1.9181 trillion won) in global box office revenue at the time of its release.
"The Devil Wears Prada 2" (directed by David Frankel), which opened on the same day, came in second place with 482,835 viewers. The film depicts the exploits of the magazine "Runway" team reunited.
"Salvage" (directed by Lee Sang-min) continues its extended theatrical run. During this period, 398,055 people watched it. With a cumulative total of 2.636104 million, it secured the third position in all-time horror films.
Meanwhile, "Project Hail Mary" came in fourth place with 96,074 viewers, and "Shin-chan" followed with 73,910 audiences.
