[Dispatch=Reporter Kim So-jung] Lee Byung-hun has confirmed his appearance in the film 'Nam Beol.' He takes on the role of the leader of warriors standing against Japanese pirates.
Production company 'Hive Media Corp' announced on the 5th that Lee Byung-hun has been cast in 'Nam Beol.' 'Nam Beol' is a martial arts action film. Set in early Joseon, it tells the story of nine warriors embarking on a mission to rescue prisoners kidnapped by Japanese pirates.
Lee Byung-hun takes on the role of 'Im Eok,' the leader who commands the warriors. He is a character with sharp judgment honed through countless battlefields and unwavering conviction. He leads a life-or-death journey to rescue Joseon people held captive on Tsushima.
'Nam Beol' is directed by cinematographer Lee Mo-gae. This is the director's first directorial work after serving as cinematographer for films including 'Seoul Spring,' 'Exhumation,' and 'Opposition Party.' He plans to present intense action and visuals to the grand narrative.
Meanwhile, 'Nam Beol' aims to begin filming in the second half of this year.
