[Dispatch=Lee Myeong-ju] BLACKPINK's Lisa will take the stage at the opening ceremony of the North, Central, and South American World Cup.
U.S. outlet The Athletic reported on the 9th (Korea time) that "Lisa has signed a performance contract with FIFA and will attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 North, Central, and South American World Cup."
The tournament will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. As opening ceremonies will be held for each host country's first match, a total of three opening ceremony performances will be held.
Lisa will perform at a celebratory show before the match between the United States and Paraguay at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on the 12th of next month. Anita and Tayla will also participate.
Michael Bublé and Alessia Cara will appear at the Toronto opening match. The Mexico City opening match will feature performances by Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, and Danny Ocean.
This is the second time a K-pop artist has been included in the World Cup opening ceremony artist lineup. BTS's Jungkook performed "Dreamers" during the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Meanwhile, Lisa debuted as a BLACKPINK member in 2016. She is active as both a team member and a solo artist.
