According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie ticket sales, "Michael" attracted 99,903 viewers on its opening day, May 13. The cumulative audience count stands at 118,493.
The film depicts the process of the late Michael Jackson growing into the "King of Pop." It covers from "The Jackson 5" through his peak years in the 1980s.
Jaafar Jackson took on the role of Michael Jackson. He, who is also the late singer's actual nephew, brought his uncle's life story to the screen. The production team behind "Bohemian Rhapsody" also participated.
Meanwhile, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" came in second place with 29,970 viewers. "Salsal-Mok-Ji" followed with 16,444 viewers.
