Non-profit organization Global Citizen announced on the 14th (Korean time) that "BTS will take the World Cup final stage together with Madonna and Shakira."

BTS will perform at the halftime show of the '2026 FIFA North, Central and South American World Cup' final held on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.

This is the first time FIFA has introduced a halftime show at a World Cup final. Coldplay's Chris Martin is in charge of the planning.

Chris Martin posted a video featuring Sesame Street's Elmo and others on social media that day. He called BTS to ask them to participate in the show.

This tournament is jointly hosted by three countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. An opening ceremony is held for each host country's first match. A total of three opening ceremony performances will be held.

BLACKPINK's Lisa has already confirmed her attendance at the opening ceremony performance. She will take the stage at a celebration held on the 12th of next month at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
