[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] Rapper Rich Iggy (19, Lee Min-seo)'s concert has been cancelled. The decision came after the rapper's disrespectful conduct toward the deceased became known.
Rich Iggy was scheduled to hold his first concert on the 23rd at Yeonnam Space in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Noel, The Quiett, and Palo Alto were among the lineup of performers.
However, the concert was finalized as cancelled five days before the scheduled date. The Roh Moo-hyun Foundation hinted at filing for a preliminary injunction to ban the concert. It sent an official document to the concert organizers demanding a formal apology.
There was reason. Rich Iggy had repeatedly mocked former President Roh Moo-hyun. The concert date and ticket price (52,300 won) were also connected to the deceased's date of passing.
The venue released a statement on the 19th, saying, "The (problematic) concert was an external rental contract. On the 18th, it was finalized as cancelled through consultation with the concert planning company."
It added, "At the time of contract, we only received information that it was a joint performance by hip-hop musicians" and "After the foundation's report, we confirmed the controversy surrounding the musician."
Yeonnam Space also stated, "We do not endorse hate or demeaning expressions toward individuals or groups, or content that incites conflict. We notified the concert planning company (of the cancellation)."
It also promised to prevent recurrence. "We will supplement internal procedures to carefully verify the nature and content of performances in the rental process," it emphasized.
Rich Iggy is a rapper from Seoul Design High School. He became controversial for using derogatory expressions about President Roh Moo-hyun in his rap. Allegations of pedophilia also emerged.
