According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticket system, 'Collective' drew 517,011 viewers on the 25th, an alternative holiday. The cumulative viewership stands at 2,018,644.
It is recording unrivaled box office performance. It is the fastest film released this year to surpass 2 million viewers. It has even surpassed 'A Man Living with the King,' which drew 10 million viewers.
It has held the top spot on the domestic box office since its release. It has ranked number one for 5 days starting from the 21st. The advance reservation rate also recorded 35.9% despite new releases.
'Collective' is one of director Yeon Sang-ho's zombie trilogy. It recently met global fans through a screening at the Midnight Screening section of the 79th Cannes International Film Festival.
Upgraded zombies appear. It depicts survivors trapped in a sealed building facing infected individuals evolving in unpredictable forms.
Meanwhile, 'Michael' secured second place with 109,384 viewers. 'Super Mario Galaxy' ranked third, drawing 38,095 viewers.
