According to the Korea Film Council's integrated cinema ticket system, 'Colony' drew 517,011 viewers on the 25th, an alternate holiday. The cumulative viewership stands at 2,018,644.
It is recording outstanding box office performance. It is the fastest film released this year to break through 2 million viewers. It even surpassed 'The Man Living with the King,' which drew 10 million viewers.
It has maintained the top spot at the domestic box office since its release. It has held first place for five consecutive days from the 21st. Its advance reservation rate also recorded 35.9% despite new releases.
'Colony' is one of director Yeon Sang-ho's zombie trilogy. It recently screened in the Midnight Screening section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, meeting global audiences.
It features upgraded zombies. It depicts survivors inside a sealed building confronting infected individuals who evolve in unpredictable forms.
Meanwhile, 'Michael' took second place with 109,384 viewers. 'Super Mario Galaxy' ranked third with 38,095 viewers.
