[Dispatch=Reporter Gu Minji] NCT's Taeyong has received praise from major overseas media outlets with his first full-length album "WYLD".
US Billboard recently stated, "Taeyong, recognized as a unique artist in K-pop, has returned. 'WYLD' offers a glimpse into his original and distinctive musical world."
British magazine Clash also noted the album's completeness. "It is a cheerful and experimental album that showcases various facets of Taeyong. His confident vocals are also a highlight," the outlet said.
The outlet also addressed the title track of the same name. "Centered on rough vocals and heavy bass, it unfolds explosive energy. Taeyong's charismatic expressiveness stands out," it reported.
It continued, "Based on his original musical world, Taeyong is recognized as a representative creator in K-pop. He has established himself as a presence that influences K-pop trends and inspires."
US outlet Sweetie High selected it as this year's best K-pop album. "A highly complete work in which experimentation, vocals, rap, confidence, and storytelling organically harmonize," the outlet noted.
It added, "Throughout the album, Taeyong demonstrates confident, experimental, yet refined and creative qualities," while emphasizing that "he truly displays solid vocal ability."
The outlet also mentioned the title track. "It takes command of the album's atmosphere at once. The explosive sound production and performance that maximizes Taeyong's strengths achieve perfect harmony," it introduced.
Sweetie High also highly evaluated Taeyong's musicality. "Taeyong freely transitions from light and soft melodies to low and husky tones and singing rap," the outlet emphasized.
Taeyong released "WYLD" on the 18th. Simultaneously with its release, it achieved No. 1 on domestic album and music charts, as well as ranking 1-10 on Japan's AWA real-time rising chart.
It also garnered attention overseas. It recorded No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums chart in 10 regions worldwide, including top 10 in 18 regions, and No. 1 on iTunes Top Songs chart in 9 regions.
