BTS, winner at U.S. awards ceremony… 'American Music Awards' three-time award winner

[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] BTS swept the American Music Awards (AMA). The group took home three awards, including the top prize of Artist of the Year.

BTS was named Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards held on the 26th (Korean time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, U.S.

The group beat out pop stars such as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift to claim the Artist of the Year trophy. This marks their second win in the category since 2021.

RM said, "ARMY, we did it again," and added, "I'm grateful. It's truly an honor to receive this precious award again after completing military service."

He continued, "Since this award is determined by fan votes, I sincerely thank ARMY fans around the world. I also want to thank those who have been by our side for the past 13 years."

J-hope also expressed his thanks in English. "Honestly, I was completely overwhelmed by the response to this album. Thank you for loving 'Arirang,'" he said while making a heart gesture.

Jimin also shared his thoughts in English. "Thank you for cheering enthusiastically throughout the tour," he said. He then smiled and added in Korean, "ARMY, I'm truly grateful and love you."

The group also won in the Song of the Summer category with the title track "Swim" from their regular fifth album "Arirang" (ARIRANG), as well as claiming the Best Male K-pop Artist trophy.

V said, "I'm grateful to the album production team," and added with a laugh, "I support everyone who doesn't give up and keeps moving forward in any situation. Please keep swimming."

"Arirang" is BTS's full-group album approximately three years and nine months after "Proof." The album captures the team's identity and universal emotions encountered in life.

It swept global charts. This album became the first K-pop album to top the U.S. Billboard main album chart "Billboard 200" for three consecutive weeks. It also maintained the top 5 for five weeks.

BTS colored the world. The group is currently conducting the record-breaking world tour "Arirang" across 34 cities. It also launched "The City," an urban-linked campaign.

Meanwhile, BTS will hold an additional concert at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on the 28th.
