'Scarecrow' Ends with 8% Viewership… "A Story of Forgotten People"

ENA's 'Scarecrow' (screenplay by Lee Ji-hyun, directed by Park Jun-woo) episode 12 aired on the 26th. According to Nielsen Korea, the final episode recorded a national average viewership rating of 8.1%.

It set its own highest viewership rating once again. It started with 2.9% in the first episode but showed steady growth through word-of-mouth among viewers. It jumped approximately three times compared to the first episode.

The drama's message was weighty and clear. To recall a forgotten case once more and remember the people around it who were harmed and those who survived.

Kang Tae-joo (played by Park Hae-soo) did not stop fighting even after 30 years passed. True to his resolve not to live as a scarecrow, he helped with Lim Seok-man's (played by Jeon Seok-chan) retrial.

Meanwhile, Cha Si-young (played by Lee Hee-joon) remained an unchanged scarecrow. Despite hearing the earnest request of his nephew Cha Young-beom (played by Song Gun-hee), whom he raised like a son, he gave false testimony in court.

Instead of cooperation between Tae-joo and Si-young, cooperation with serial killer Lee Yong-woo (played by Jung Moon-sung) brought bitterness. Yong-woo appeared as a witness in Seok-man's trial and gave decisive testimony.

'Scarecrow' is a work based on a serial murder case that occurred between 1986 and 1991. It garnered interest as the first drama shot after the true culprit was revealed after 34 years.

In particular, the actors' passionate performances led to the success. Park Hae-soo took on the role of Tae-joo, a man of upright character. Lee Hee-joon left a deep impression with the role of Si-young, who has dual facets.
