[Dispatch=Myeong-ju Lee] Actor Kim Min-ha takes on the role of a North Korean defector.
Distributor "Triple Pictures" announced on the 28th that "Kim Min-ha appears in director Frederik Schobert's film 'Hana Korea.' She plays Hye-sun, a North Korean defector woman."
"Hana Korea" is a joint production between South Korea and Denmark based on a true story. It tells the journey of one woman striving to move forward despite her unfamiliar life.
Before its release, it garnered strong reactions from domestic cinephiles. It drew attention by winning the audience award in the Flash Forward section at the 30th Busan International Film Festival.
Kim Min-ha played the role of Hye-sun, a North Korean defector woman. Hye-sun is a character who leaves North Korea and starts a new life in South Korea. Her restrained emotional performance added to the immersion.
In addition to Kim Min-ha, Kim Ju-ryeong and An Seo-hyun also appear. They play Suk-hee and Bo-mi, respectively. It realistically depicted the reality of North Korean migrant defectors enduring unfamiliar lives.
Meanwhile, "Hana Korea" is scheduled to open on July 8.
