[Dispatch=Reporter Jung Tae-yun] Singer Jung Dong-won's agency has announced a strong response against malicious commenters who impersonate fans to spread rumors.
Showplay Entertainment stated on the 29th, "We are conducting continuous monitoring of online communities, SNS, portal sites, and various platforms related to Jung Dong-won."
The agency has issued warnings and requested deletion of posts regarding malicious attacks, defamation, distribution of false information, and spreading of unfounded rumors targeting the artist.
For cases determined to be serious, the agency has proceeded with responses in accordance with relevant laws and procedures, and there have been cases where actual punishment has been imposed.
However, such incidents have continued. Jung Dong-won's side stated, "Recently, we have confirmed instances of people impersonating fans spreading entirely false content or distorting and exaggerating specific situations to induce negative public opinion."
In particular, the agency pointed out the seriousness of activities that externally appear to be typical fan activities but actually damage the artist's image or aim to create confusion within the fandom.
The agency emphasized, "We are currently conducting legal review and taking measures regarding cases where individuals impersonate or are likely to be mistaken for the artist's representatives or associates without our prior consent."
The agency added, "Going forward, we will continue legal action without any leniency or settlement regarding distribution of false information, defamation, malicious attacks and rumor creation and spreading, as well as impersonation of fans or acts that incite conflict within the fandom."
Meanwhile, Jung Dong-won enlisted in the Marine Corps in February and is fulfilling his military service obligation.
