"I Challenged Wild Charm"…Miyao, the Cat That Grew Into a Beast (Showcase)
by. Azin Lee

[Dispatch=Reporter Lee A-Jin] "From a kitten, we have now grown into fierce beasts!" (Narin)

MIYAO has made their return with venom. They revealed their ambition to prove their growth across all aspects—music, visuals, and performance.

So they pulled out a side they had never shown before. They reinterpreted the classical melody of Bach, the master. They led with more grand music and bolder performance.

They plan to showcase boundless digestibility. Suin said, "We will show the charm of a lovely predator," adding, "We prepared an album that blends cute and intense aspects."

MIYAO held a showcase to commemorate the release of their mini-second album "Bite Now" at Cube Convention Center in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 1st.

It is their comeback after approximately eight months. Through this album, MIYAO wanted to show their musical color more distinctly.

Narin said, "The mini first album 'My Eyes Open Wide' was a signal flare of what kind of music MIYAO does," and added, "This time, we wanted to earnestly enhance our capabilities and unfold them."

They focused on bringing out each member's individuality more distinctly. Producer Teddy actively reflected the members' opinions. He recommended that members conduct recording directing for one another.

Gawon said, "Five members reviewed each other's directing," and recalled, "We proceeded by gathering everyone's opinions together. We paid attention to every single breath to produce good quality."

They invested more time and effort than any previous album. Suin revealed, "While preparing the last album, I thought, 'I don't think there will be a harder album than this in the future.' But this time, we surpassed that limit."

Thus completed fiercely, the album is "Bite Now." Gawon explained, "We incorporated a distinctly different look from before, a more realistic look, and wild appeal."

A total of five tracks are included. "Hit Em," "Tirorri," "In My Hands," "Favorite Song," and "Revenge." The title track is "Tirorri." It expresses captivating overwhelm and intense ferocity.

A distinctive feature is the melody sampled from Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor." Narin said, "We took on sampling to create a classical and grand feel. We reinterpreted it with our own color by adding a hip sensibility."

Narin, Ella, and Gawon directly participated in songwriting. Narin said, "We tried to write the lyrics more intuitively and intensely." Gawon also added, "We pondered expressions that could reveal raw appeal."

The killing part is the chorus where the lyric "Tirorri" appears. Narin emphasized, "We thought a lot about how to express 'Tirorri.' I would appreciate it if you paid attention to our expressiveness."

For this activity, they prepared a total of three performances. On this day, they performed the stages for "Tirorri" and "Hit Em." "Tirorri" was not the hip yet energetic performance they had shown before. It was unconventional yet elegant.

In particular, choreography that formed fierce predator claws continued to emerge. In the highlight part, they revealed intense energy with choreography that seemed to march while holding up claws.

In the chorus, they gave impact with a motion of extending one hand upward and waving it. Anna and Suin each took the first and second verses. They heightened stage immersion with vivid facial expressions as if sensing danger.

They also performed the "Hit Em" stage. Members appeared wearing gloves in a style reminiscent of boxing gloves. They equipped themselves with eyes burning with competitive spirit and relaxed smiles that seemed to enjoy the match.

More passionate movements poured out compared to the title track. Members did headbanging together, and Ella showcased a tumbling move. At the end, they even performed an exercise motion as if running while supporting themselves on the ground.

Finally, when asked what descriptor they wanted to gain through this activity, a confident answer came back. Gawon exclaimed, "I want to be called 'MIYAO Michelin.'"

She added, "To that extent, we are confident in everything—music, performance, visuals. Above all, it is an expression that contains the confidence of an artist who is confident in making the stage delicious."

Anna asked for anticipation for the performance of "In My Hands," which was not shown today. She laughed, saying, "It was nice to be able to do cute choreography that we haven't done before. You can look forward to it."

Narin recommended "Favorite Song." It is a track she wrote directly. She said, "We have more affection for it because we wrote it while doing skits with the members," and added, "It is a song with a melody that feels good whenever you listen to it. Please love it."
