'Wild Thing' draws 160,000 on opening day… debuts at box office No. 2

[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju] The film 'Wild Thing' (director Son Jae-gon) opened at No. 2 at the box office.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated box office system, 'Wild Thing' drew 160,754 viewers on its opening day, June 3rd. The cumulative audience count is 182,075.

Box office prospects are bright. It surpassed the opening scores of the 10 million-viewer film 'The Man Living with the King' (117,783 viewers) and the all-time No. 1 horror film 'Salmokji' (89,911 viewers).

However, the popularity of evolved K-zombies is overwhelming. 'Collective' had 331,487 viewers on the same day. It surpassed 4 million viewers just 13 days after its release.

These films are expected to continue their dual box office run until 'Hope' opens. The combined box office share of 'Wild Thing' and 'Collective' exceeded 63%.

'Wild Thing' is a comedy film. It depicts the struggle of a three-member mixed dance group that once swept the music industry as they dream of making a comeback after 20 years.

Actors Kang Dong-won, Park Ji-hyun, and Eom Tae-gu appear as members of 'Triangle'. O Jung-se took on the role of Choi Sung-gon, Triangle's rival and 'ear boyfriend'.

Meanwhile, 'Backroom' took 3rd place at the box office. It drew 114,104 viewers. 'Michael' followed with 37,148 viewers.
