'Toy Story 5' Ranks #1 on Opening Day…"Surpassed Hail Mary Opening"

[Dispatch=Lee Myeong-ju Reporter] "Toy Story 5" (Andrew Stanton·McKenna Harris) took the No. 1 spot at the box office upon its release.

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated movie ticket system, "Toy Story 5" drew 94,171 moviegoers nationwide on its opening day, June 17.

It surpassed "Project Hail Mary," this year's highest-grossing foreign film. "Project Hail Mary" recorded an opening score of 76,003.

"Toy Story 5" is an animation that deals with the world of toys. The sequel came out approximately 7 years after the fourth installment in 2019.

It reflects reality. The story follows toys facing an unprecedented crisis with the arrival of the smart tablet "Lily Pad," before coming together again.

Meanwhile, "Swarm" and "Wild Things" remained in 2nd place (30,906) and 3rd place (25,267), respectively. "Backrooms" dropped to 4th place (9,899).
