[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-ju] Jungkook of BTS has set a record as the first Korean solo artist to achieve this milestone.
According to Spotify's latest count (as of the 23rd), Jungkook surpassed 3 billion cumulative streams with his first solo single "Seven."
This is the first time a Korean artist's song has exceeded 3 billion streams. It was the only track from new releases in 2023 worldwide to reach 3 billion plays.
Despite three years having passed since its release, the song continues to gain popularity. The track has charted on Spotify's "Weekly Top Songs Global" for 153 consecutive weeks.
"Seven" is a song about wanting to spend a week straight with someone you love. The addictive melody harmonizes with Jungkook's vocal tone.
The music video also garnered attention. Jungkook starred opposite actress Han Sohee as romantic interests. In April, it surpassed 600 million cumulative views on YouTube.
Meanwhile, BTS, the group Jungkook belongs to, is conducting a world tour "Arirang." On the 26th and 27th, they will kick off their European tour in Madrid.
