According to the Korean Film Council's integrated movie ticket system, 'Toy Story 5' recorded 1,066,795 viewers as of the 24th. This is the record achieved just 8 days after its release.
It's a faster pace than 'Project Hail Mary' (crossed 1 million on its 11th day of release), which is the top-grossing foreign film this year. The legendary franchise proved its strength once again.
'Toy Story 5' conveys the value of friendship and connection that remain unchanged even as the world changes rapidly, drawing empathy from audiences of all generations.
New releases took the second position at the box office. 'Supergirl' (directed by Craig Gillespie), produced by James Gunn, head of DC, drew 34,939 viewers.
'Supergirl' depicts the journey of Supergirl (played by Millie Bobby Brown), a cosmic troublemaker, as she encounters a life-changing event and finds her own true path.
'Pupil' (Eye), starring Shin Min-ah, which was released the same day, also drew 34,941 viewers. 'Swarm' (24,627 viewers) and 'Wild Thing' (19,418 viewers) took 4th and 5th place respectively.
