[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] "Wherever your path may lead, always remember. SEVENTEEN is right here."
Joshua of SEVENTEEN took the UNESCO headquarters podium once again.
Joshua attended the 'UNESCO X SEVENTEEN: Celebrating Youth, Creativity and Wellbeing Together' commemorative ceremony held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France on the 26th (Korea time).
SEVENTEEN, to which he belongs, was appointed as UNESCO's first youth goodwill ambassador in June 2024 and has been active in that role. Joshua, representing the 13 members, visited UNESCO headquarters for the third time.
The event was held to reflect on the achievements of the 'Going Together—For Youth Creativity and Wellbeing' (hereinafter 'Going Together') program and to share plans for enhanced support.
In his speech, he said, "The passion of young people has moved us deeply," and "The experience of supporting your journey has been a very valuable time for all of us."
He continued, "Watching this, we came to know that we can go further in trust toward one another and in the belief that we are stronger together. Let us continue to move forward together."
He also promised continued support. Joshua said, "I will continue to sing and quietly cheer you on. At times, I will shout that your dreams matter. SEVENTEEN is here," concluding his remarks.
Other members added their support through video messages. They cheered, "If young people gain faith and strength, we have proven that we can create a better future for everyone."
SEVENTEEN donated one million dollars (approximately 1.5 billion won) at the time of the youth goodwill ambassador appointment. Subsequently, they launched the Global Youth Fund and have operated the 'Going Together' program that supports young people.
Support funds were sent to selected youth projects over approximately two years. Through this, it had a direct impact on 21,000 people worldwide. Online reach extended to 120 people.
Ten groups that demonstrated outstanding results will receive enhanced support going forward. Funding was secured through SEVENTEEN's additional donation of proceeds from the 'Jupiter Presents: Sakaï X SEVENTEEN' charity auction.
UNESCO Director-General Khalid El-Enany conveyed, "'Going Together' will strengthen UNESCO's efforts to contribute to sustainable development and peacebuilding."
