Gyeongju City appointed Lisenne as a tourism ambassador on the 29th. "We will jointly pursue activities to widely introduce the charm and tourism content of the historic and cultural city of Gyeongju both domestically and internationally," the city announced.
They further explained, "We selected Lisenne, which includes Jennie from Gyeongju, as an ambassador with both local and mass appeal." Jennie has expressed affection for Gyeongju to the extent of being called the "Silla Princess."
An official said, "K-pop is exerting high influence globally. We determined that an ambassador who can appeal familiarly to younger generations and overseas tourists was necessary."
Based on their approachable image, Lisenne plans to introduce Gyeongju's historical and cultural heritage, festivals, and tourist attractions more accessibly to K-pop fans and the MZ generation. This will enhance the city's brand competitiveness.
Gyeongju City views this as helpful in strengthening the image of a young and dynamic city. Gyeongju Mayor Ju Nag-young said, "It is meaningful to work together with Lisenne, which includes Jennie from Gyeongju."
Mayor Ju expressed optimism, saying, "I hope that Lisenne, with its young and fresh appeal, will become a reliable ambassador widely introducing Gyeongju's history, culture, and tourism resources both domestically and internationally."
The appointment ceremony for Lisenne as Gyeongju City's tourism ambassador will be held at a later date. Going forward, they will participate in various Gyeongju City content projects and contribute to revitalizing tourism and enhancing the city's brand value.
Meanwhile, Lisenne was previously appointed as a tourism ambassador for Geoje City and Suwon City. They will make their comeback on the 8th of next month at 6 p.m. with the remake single "Pretty Girl."
