[Dispatch=Reporter Jung Tae-yoon] Voice actress Kang Hee-sun passed away in the early morning of the 4th. She was 65 years old.
The deceased was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2021 and underwent chemotherapy dozens of times for liver metastasis. Even during her illness, she continued recording and showed passion for her work, but she eventually closed her eyes.
Kang Hee-sun joined TBC Voice Acting Troupe as the 10th class in 1979 and represented Korea's voice acting industry. She became known by voicing Sharon Stone in the film series "Basic Instinct."
She provided voices for numerous Hollywood stars including Uma Thurman in "Kill Bill" and Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman." She is particularly familiar to audiences for voicing "Bong Mi-sun" in the animation "Crayon Shin-chan" and the Seoul subway announcement broadcasts.
In 2024, she appeared on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block" where she revealed that she was undergoing colorectal cancer treatment. In August of last year, it was announced that the voice actress for the role of Bong Mi-sun had been replaced.
Meanwhile, the wake was held at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital Funeral Hall, Room 31. The funeral procession is scheduled for 7:40 a.m. on June 6th, with the burial site at Yongin Park Honorstone.
